Supplement stash – the more you own, the bigger you get (or at least that’s what the industry wants you to think) |
I get asked by various people from time to time, what supplements do I use? It has become a boring question since the majority of the time the people that ask these kind of questions are trying to find an easy way to reach their goals without putting much of an effort. It’s like they are trying to find Aladdin’s lamp and the genie that accompanied it.

Aladdin, take these supplements and you will become jacked! |
And if you think that stuff like that only happens in fairy tails, well, you are fucking right. But let’s not be judgmental, for there was a time that I too was a victim of the supplement industry. And truth be told, its difficult not to be, especially when you are an inexperienced young lifter with high hopes and expectations and you are facing countless marketing experts whose one and only goal is to suck your pockets dry. You have your idols stating that it was product X that helped them reach their goals, the winner of an event that states that if it weren’t for product Y he wouldn’t be in the top spot. And then you go online, browse the various forums and you read all those positive reviews… So you enter a process of acquiring various products that will help you supposedly get an edge. And time passes by, money leaves your pockets, and the results aren’t what you thought they would be. So what’s going on?

I guess big Z relies exclusively on MHP supplements… sounds legit! |
I’d say the vast majority of supplements are crap and useless. You pay lots of money, get very little in return -if you are lucky that is, and the supplement really works- and this goes on and on, its an endless circle.
What do I suggest? Stick with the absolute basics. Stuff that has been proven to work.
- Whey – protein, nough said.
- Creatine – on of the few supplements that has been scientifically proven to work numerous times.
- Fish oil – this is one of the few stuff that helps me with my joints and especially my operated knee
tl;dr: stick with whey, creatine, fishoil. Wanna spend cash for extra stuff? Do your research first and be aware that you are most likely throwing your money away. Hard work is irreplaceable.
